March 2011 - super moon
I love photographing the moon.  But, getting a great image of the moon is tricky.  I certainly wouldn't call myself an expert.  Over the past few years, I have learned a few tricks:
  •  use a tripod or set your camera on a stable surface
  • shoot early - either in the evening or morning, when the sky isn't as dark
  • spot meter the moon
  • add other elements into the picture for more interest - (tree branches, city lights, roof tops, etc.)
  • use a zoom lens
  • bring a flashlight out with you so you can see your camera's buttons and dials
  • don't get so excited that you forget all you know :)
Next time you see a beautiful moon, get out and give moon photography a try.  Like any challenge the rewards are worth it.

365's from August 14 - 20

August 17 - Before - I started work on painting the china cabinet. Just a crappy snappy of the "before" August 18 - Heat in Hand - Self portrait Thursday on Wednesday.

August 14 - Bacon & Egg Sandwiches - a family favorite

August 15 - Grandma's Quilt - Grandma made a quilt for each of her children and grandchildren as wedding presents. This is mine. I choose the pattern, and fabric. She did an amazing job, and I love having something that Grandma spent so much time handling.

August 16 - From the Wood Pile - I think my brother in law thinks I am nuts when I take pictures of his wood pile. I love the creamy tone of the inside of the wood and the texture.

August 19 - Somewhere Out There -somewhere out there, beneath the pale moonlight, some one's thinking of me and loving me tonight. Missing the Kid, she is spending two weeks at a friends cottage.

August 20 - Almost Finished - and lovin' it!

365's From Camping

May 29 - New Friends May 30- Day vs. Night - (okay not quite May 30th, more like afternoon/evening May 29th. I didn't get a 365 for May 30th with rushing around to get camp closed up, and when we got home we invited Gramma up for dinner. These are fun anyways and I am happy I did not have to cut them.)
