Project: Power Cards

My family consists of the five of us. My husband who happens to be considerate, sweet, and hot, my oldest daughter, Kenzie, a thirteen year old who is coming into her own person, my baby Charlie, who is not really a baby anymore - he is four, a little imp and the laughter of our family, and Josh my middle kid, the jam in the sandwich and oh yeah, he happens to have aspergers.

Aspergers is in the autism spectrum. Josh has challenges that he deals with everyday. Right now, his biggest challenge is the social world of grade 7. Ahh, yes I remember grade 7, (not so fondly), its tough for any kid, let alone one with social difficulties anyways.

To try to help Josh, I found a program called Power Cards. Power Cards are cards that give a social scenario with a child's favorite "hero", and how that "hero" would solve the situation. So yesterday I spent the day going through the Pokedex, looking at all 400+ Pokemons, and finding Pokemons that displayed positive social skills. Then, I made up a deck of Power Cards with these Pokemon. The power cards are a work in progress, but I hope to have them complete in the next day or so. Next step is to intergrate them into Josh's program.

My First Post

Hi, and welcome to my blog. This blog will feature my photographic journey, and glimpses into my world. I suppose I should start with who I am. Who am I? Who knew that a seemingly easy question could be so tough, ( don't believe me, go ahead and ask it of yourself. )

Here goes, I am a mother, wife, daughter, sister friend, advocate, auntie, and oh yeah, an aspiring photographer.

I like to think of my photographic images in terms of 5 categories, Beginnings, Growing, Becoming, Connecting and Exploring. On any given day I relate to any or all of these. Today in particular, I identify most with growing, because today, I am taking a big step in putting myself out there, I am growing.
